Wheelchairs, beds, stretchers and backboards move between patients all day. Washing them by hand takes staff away from other work, varies from person to person, and exposes cleaners to spray and splashes. An Aqua Phase washer cleans them in a closed chamber on a 3, 5 or 7 minute cycle, the same way every time.
What hospitals use Aqua Phase for
- Wheelchairs, including larger chairs, with front and rear wheel rotation during the wash
- Hospital beds and backboards in the AQ-4000
- Stretchers, walkers, stands and other mobility equipment
- Several smaller items per cycle using wash racks and utility trays
Why hospitals choose it
- Consistent results: every item gets the same wash, rinse and chemical application
- Staff time freed: about 2 minutes to load and unload instead of 30 to 90 minutes of manual washing
- Less staff exposure: washing happens behind a closed door, not at an open sink or wash bay
- Separation of dirty and clean: the AQ-4000 can be fitted with double pass-through doors, so items are loaded on one side and unloaded on the other
- Proven in Australian public health: our customers include NSW Health, Health WA, ACT Health and SA Health
Recommended models
- AQ-3500: takes most larger wheelchairs, or several walkers and stands per wash. Our most common hospital model.
- AQ-4000: for beds and backboards, with optional pass-through doors and a conveyor floor for high volumes.
- AQ-3000: for smaller hospitals or wards washing standard wheelchairs where space is tight.

Common questions
Can an Aqua Phase washer clean hospital beds?
Yes. The AQ-4000 has a wash chamber of 1022 × 1201 × 2362 mm, which takes most hospital beds and backboards as well as several wheelchairs or walkers per wash.
Can we keep dirty and clean equipment separate?
Yes. The AQ-4000 is available as a double-door pass-through model, so dirty items go in one end and clean items come out the other. An optional conveyor floor moves items from the door into the chamber.
What does installation need?
A hot water supply, a drain and a power outlet. Australian units run on 220 to 240 V. Each machine connects with a hot water fill hose and a drain hose, and longer 7.5 m hose sets are available.
Who services the machines?
We do. We provide on-site technical support across Australia and New Zealand, preventative maintenance agreements, spare parts and all cleaning and sanitising consumables.
