Residents' wheelchairs, walkers, commodes and shower chairs need regular, thorough cleaning, and doing it by hand takes care staff away from residents. An Aqua Phase washer cleans a wheelchair or several walkers in a 3, 5 or 7 minute cycle, with about 2 minutes of staff time to load and unload.
What aged care facilities use Aqua Phase for
- Residents' wheelchairs, with front and rear wheel rotation during the wash
- Walkers and stands, several per cycle
- Smaller equipment on utility wash trays
Why aged care facilities choose it
- More time for care: at 200 washes a month, staff save around 93 hours compared with a 30-minute manual wash
- Consistent cleaning: every chair and walker is washed the same way, every time, reducing the risk of cross contamination between residents
- Safer for staff: washing happens in a closed chamber, away from spray and splashes
- Built to last: some of the units we are now replacing have been working for 13 years
- Local support: training, maintenance, parts and consumables from our Australian team

Common questions
How much staff time does a washer save in aged care?
It depends on how many items you wash. At 200 washes a month, replacing a 30-minute manual wash frees about 93 staff hours a month. See our worked example on the Why Aqua Phase page.
Which model suits a smaller facility?
The AQ-1500 is our entry-level model for smaller facilities. Larger facilities usually choose the AQ-3000, or the AQ-3500 for larger chairs.
Do you supply the cleaning chemicals?
Yes. We supply all cleaning and sanitising consumables, and offer preventative maintenance agreements with scheduled on-site visits.
